Annie Loretta Preston, departed life at the home on Sunday, April 4, 2021. She was born November 29, 1937, in Martinsville, VA to the late Katie Jones Hairston and Chester Edward Hairston. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Howard Hairston.
She was a graduate of Albert Harris High School, and was employed at Stanley Furniture Co. and the Lavender House restaurant. She became a member of Mount Zion AME Church at an early age.
She leaves to cherish her memory her loving husband of 65 years, Earl McCoy Preston, Sr. of the home; four sons, Earl McCoy (Deborah) Preston, Jr., Chester Donnell (Doretha) Preston, Daniel Clinton Preston, and Brian Gregory (Cynthia) Preston all of Martinsville, VA; one daughter, Sandra Preston Hairston of Martinsville, VA; ten grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, April 10, 2021 at 11 a.m. at the Preston Family Cemetery, Chestnut Knob Rd., Martinsville, VA. A public viewing will be held on Friday, April 9, 2021 at Hairston Funeral Home between the hours of 1 p.m. until 5 p.m. In accordance with the CDC, a face covering and social distancing is required. Other times, the family will be receiving friends at the home, 930 Chestnut Knob Rd., Martinsville, VA.
