Obituary For Anthony Ray Penn

On Monday, September 8, 2025, Anthony Ray Penn, 67, of Stuart, VA transitioned from this earthly life to eternal rest at his residence. He was born in Patrick County, VA on January 16, 1958, the son of the late Dee Penn and Barbara J. Hagwood Reynolds.

In addition to his parents, Anthony was preceded in death by his sister, Jenny Penn.

Ray was an avid softball player and coached a local girls' softball team. He was known for his card playing skills. He was a construction worker before retiring. Ray was a graduate of Patrick County High School and served in the U.S. Marine Corps.

Ray leaves to cherish his memory three daughters, Nancy Hairston of High Point, NC, Katrenna Redd of Salisbury, NC and Jessica Thomas of Spencer, VA; three sons, Tony Thomas of Roanoke, VA, Courtney Nowlin (Casey) of Stuart, VA and Kelly Johnson of Greensboro, NC; six grandchildren, Kalab Redd, Qualeak Pride, Alisa Redd, Treveion Grant, Deja Thomas, and Trae Nowlin; one brother, Sean Reynolds (Kimberly) of Patrick Springs, VA; step-father, Julius Reynolds of Stuart, VA; one nephew, Kiran Penn; special friend and son, Anita Green and Kamaury Hylton; and a host of other relatives and friends.

A memorial service will be held on Monday, September 15, 2025, at 12 noon at the C.R.V. Memorial Chapel at Hairston Funeral Home, 301 Fayette St., Martinsville, VA. Interment will be private.
