Obituary For Barbara Jean Hairston
On Saturday, March 28, 2026, our beloved mother, sister and friend, Barbara Jean Hairston, 60, of Spencer St., Martinsville peacefully transitioned from this earthly life at SOVAH Health Martinsville. She was born in Martinsville, VA on July 25, 1965, to the late Joe L. Barbour and Geraldine S. Blake.
In addition to her parents, Barbara was preceded in death by her husband, Calvin Hairston.
Barbara leaves to cherish her memory one daughter, Sherika Hodnett of Norfolk, VA; two sons, Quinton Hairston and Martin Hairston both of Martinsville, VA; five grandchildren; two sisters, Clara Schofield of Martinsville, VA and Frances Blake of New York City; one brother; Thomas Blake, Jr. of New York City; and a host of other relatives, and friends.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, April 8, 2026, at 11 a.m. at the C.R.V. Memorial Chapel at Harston Funeral Home, 301 Fayette St., Martinsville.
