Barbara Ann Martin Quarles, 78, of Joseph Martin Highway, Martinsville, VA departed from this life on Wednesday, April 23, 2025, at Piney Forest Health and Rehabilitation Center in Danville, VA. She was born in Elkhorn, WV on June 11, 1946, to the late Pete Thomas Martin, Sr and Ethel Preston Martin.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Pete Thomas Martin, Jr. and her sister, Cleopatra Martin Hodge.
Barbara was a member of St. Paul High Street Baptist Church in Martinsville, VA. She served as an Usher and was a part of the Canary Harmonizers Choir. She was a graduate of Albert Harris High School and went on to attend Temple University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She worked for Verizon until her early retirement. She was a generous woman who enjoyed being around her loved ones.
Those left behind to cherish her memory include, one brother, David Randolph Martin of Willingboro, NJ; one sister, Shirley Martin Gravely of Martinsville, VA; one aunt, Dorothy Preston Ferguson of Philadelphia, PA; one uncle, Earl Coy Preston of Martinsville, VA; special friends, Dorothy Black, Via, and Minnie; and a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends.
A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, April 29, 2025, at Carver Memorial Gardens, 869 Parkway Dr, Martinsville, VA 24112 at 1 p.m. With Pastor Thomas Divens as the Eulogist. A public viewing will be held on Monday, April 28, 2025, from 1 p.m. until 5p.m. at Hairston Funeral Home, 301 Fayette Street, Martinsville, VA. The family will receive friends at the home, 2665 Joseph Martin Highway, Martinsville, VA from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m.
