Barry J. Millner, 52, of Fieldale, VA, departed this life on Tuesday, April 2,2024, at Lewis- Gale Medical Center, Salem, VA. He was born in Martinsville, VA on July 4, 1971, to the late Walter Junior Millner and Deloris “Peewee” Akridge.
Barry was a member of Mt. Pisgah AME Church, Alton, VA. He was a devoted Philadelphia Eagles fan, he cherished his family and contributed significantly to organizing the Millner and Akridge family reunion as well as community service initiatives such as clothes giveaways and toy drives.
Barry attended the Martinsville City Public Schools and worked for Spring Industries prior to becoming disabled.
Barry leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Yolanda Wright Millner of the home; three daughters, Brea C. Watkins of Houston, TX, Rosetta Alexis Hairston, and Barri Sherice Millner both of Martinsville, VA; one brother, Earl Akridge of Bassett, VA; special friend, Larry Jones of Martinsville, VA; and a host of other relatives, and friends.
A visitation service will be held on Tuesday, April 9, 2024, at 11:30 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 12 p.m. at the C.R.V. Memorial Chapel at Hairston Funeral Home, 301 Fayette St., Martinsville, VA. The burial will follow at Meadow Christian Church Cemetery,1140 Meadowood Trail, Martinsville, VA. A public viewing will be held on Monday, April 8, 2024, at Hairston Funeral Home between the hours of 1 p.m. until 5 p.m. Other times, the family will be receiving friends at the home, 46 10TH St., Fieldale, VA.
