On Saturday, September 20, 2025, our beloved Betty Jean Hobson Pettie 87, of Second St., Martinsville peacefully transitioned from this earthly life at SOVAH Health-Martinsville. She was born on May 2, 1938, in Martinsville, VA to the late Gracie Hobson Humber.
In addition to her mother, Betty Jean was preceded in death by her husband of thirty-nine years, Simon C. Pettie, Jr.
Betty Jean was a graduate of Albert Harris High School. She was a member of Jerusalem Christain Church (DOC).
Betty Jean leaves to cherish her memory cousins/caretakers, Moncie Deshazo and Monica Deshazo both of Collinsville, VA; and a host of other relatives, and friends.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, September 27, 2025, at 11 a.m. at the Hobson Family Cemetery, Pine Hall Rd., Martinsville.
A public viewing will be held on Friday, September 26, 2025, at Hairston Funeral Home, 301 Fayette St., Martinsville between the hours of 1 p.m. until 5 p.m. Live streaming of the graveside service will be available at Hairston Funeral Home live via Facebook.
