I taught Chris history at Laurel Park HS and followed his professional development after he left high school. He was a wonderful student and wanted to learn as much as he could about the world in which we live. He was alway pleasant and has a smile that would light up any room! His son Devin went to Elon my alma mater and I would see Chris at Devin's ball games. Alway eager to engage one in conversation we would talk about everything especially his lovely family. Chris was not only a great educator he was a great teacher/coach winning many championships at GW of Danville. Chris was also a person who exhibited what a Christian should be. He walked the walk and talked the talk. The world was a better place with Chris and people like him. I was saddened to hear of his passing but glad Chris came down my path of life and I was blessed to know him! RIP Chris Carter! Noble Marshall

Dear Fran,Devon and Darius I wanted to write to extend my deepest sympathies to you all on the passing of your husband and father Chris. I still remember all the time he and I shared on the bench as coaches of the GW program and he even asked me to step in for him one time to coach the girls on a Saturday night against Franklin County in an emergency situation. I always enjoyed talking and learning from Chris about Basketball and life and he always would make me feel welcome in the locker room and around the school whenever i would return home for a visit. I am so sorry I was not able to be there in person but please know that you all are in my prayers if there is anything I can do please let me know. Chris may have come from Morehead to coach but as I often have said, "once a G.W Eagle, always a G.W. Eagle" Once again my deepest sympathies God will take care of you.
Sincerely Peter Johnson
