Diane Byrd Grier, 61, of Knollwood Pl., Martinsville, VA, departed this life on Saturday, January 16, 2021 at her residence. She was born in Flushing Queens, NY on January 31, 1961, the daughter of the late Walter A. Byrd and the late Dorothy McNeil Byrd.
Bishop Grier was a founding member, along with her husband, of God's Way Apostolic Church of the Lord Jesus Christ in NY. She was a traveling Evangelist, and a Missionary.
At an early age, she obtained two Law Degrees, was a Psychologist, a teacher, Foster Parent, Daycare Provider, Physician, Lab Technician and Secretary.
Bishop Grier leaves to cherish her memory, her husband, Bishop Derek Grier of the home; one daughter, Angel Simmons AKA Teresa James of the home; one son, Derek O. Grier of the home; one grandson, Josha M. James of Martinsville, VA; foster son, Jahman Mimms of NY; adopted child, Frances Danso of Guyana, South Africa; three sisters, Collata Coston and Helen Coston both of NY, and Christy Byrd of NC; one brother, Darnell Byrd of VA; eight in-laws, Lana Kay Jackson of Georgia, Ralph W. Grier Jr. of Trenton NJ, Wanda Youngblood of Columbia TN, Kelvin Grier of Trenton NJ, Russell Grier of Trenton NJ, Vincent Grier of Trenton NJ, Gwendoly Grier of Trenton NJ, and Vanessa Brown of Felton DE; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
All services will be private.
