On Wednesday, October 1, 2025, our beloved father, grandfather and friend, Bobby Levon Dillard 83, transitioned peacefully from this earthly life at his residence. He was born in Martinsville, VA on January 28, 1942, to the late John Lewis Dillard and Kate Norman Dillard.
In addition to his parents, Bobby was preceded in death by his son, Victor Levon Dillard; three sisters, Catherine Moyer and her husband, Bishop Aaron Moyer, Evelyn Hobson and Christine Kellam and her husband, Bishop Robert Kellam.
Bobby was a graduate of George Washington Carver High School class of 1960. After graduating from high school, Bobby enrolled at Kittrell College, then he transferred to St. Paul College where he participated in the football program.
Bobby and his loving wife, Arnette, who transitioned to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, October 1, 2025, were married on December 14, 1963, allowing them to celebrate almost 62 years of marriage. Bobby was a member of the Hunterβs Club, the Laurel Park Booster's Club and he coached numerous basketball, football, and softball teams in the Martinsville/Henry County area. He retired from Dupont in 1998 after 31 years of service.
Bobby leaves to cherish his memory two daughters, Sandra D. Dillard of Greensboro, NC and Torsheda D. Ransom and her husband Dr. Kirby Ransom of Wake Forest, NC; daughter-in-law, Karen J. Dillard of Greensboro, NC; five grandchildren, Kirby Ransom, Jr., Karter Ransom and Karson Ransom all of Wake Forest, NC, Victor Dillard, II of Forney, TX and Kiana D. Foddrell of Greensboro, NC; four great-grandchildren; one sister, Edna Delores Doggett of San Francisco, CA; two brothers, Joe Dillard and his wife Iniease of Martinsville, VA and John Edward Dillard and his wife Carolyn of Richmond, VA; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
A visitation service will be held on Tuesday, October 7, 2025, at 12 noon with the funeral service at 12:30 p.m. at The Spirit of Christ Worship Center, 4250 Chatham Rd., Martinsville with Elder Percy Stockton, Eulogist. Interment will follow at the Rock Hill Primitive Baptist Church, 445 Stockton Rd., Martinsville.
A public viewing will be held on Monday, October 6, 2025, at Hairston Funeral Home, 301 Fayette St., Martinsville between the hours of 1 p.m. until 5 p.m. Live streaming of the funeral service will be available at Hairston Funeral Home live via Facebook.
