Obituary For Calvin C. Hairston, Jr.
Calvin C. Hairston, Jr. 78, of Martinsville, VA, departed this life on Saturday, January 24,2026 at his residence. He was born in Martinsville, VA on September 29, 1947, to the late Calvin C. Hairston, Sr. and Garnett Jones Hairston.
In addition to his parents, Calvin was preceded in death by three sisters, Frances Coles, Vanessa Hairston and Josie Gillman, and two brothers, Clyde Hairston and Earnest Hairston.
Calvin was in the lawncare business for many years.
Those left to cherish his memories include: his wife, Barbara Hardy Hairston of the home; one son, Steve Porter of Martinsville, VA; two sisters, Carolyn Giles of Morrow, GA and Faye Galloway of Martinsville, VA; one brother, William Hairston of Baltimore, MD; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
A public viewing will be held on Saturday, January 31, 2026, at Hairston Funeral Home, 301 Fayette St., Martinsville, weather permitting, from 1 p.m. until 5 p.m. Interment will be private.
