Carolyn E. Stockton transitioned from this earthly life to eternal life on Wednesday, March 30, 2022, at her residence. Born October 14, 1939, in Virginia, she was the daughter of George W. Hairston, and Sadie Elizabeth Matthews who preceded her in death.
In addition to her parents, Carolyn was preceded in death by her husband Leonard Stockton, Jr.; one son, Michael Stockton; one grandson, LaShawn Grant; and one brother, James Hairston.
Carolyn attended Rock Hill Primitive Baptist Church, and she retired from Tultex Knitting after 45 years of service.
Those left to cherish her memory include: two sons, Flonard “Barry” Stockton, Sr., and Alvin Stockton both of Martinsville, VA; four grandchildren; four sisters, Florence Hairston, and Mildred Adams both of Martinsville, VA, Shirley (Marvin) Slade, and Ruth (Jerry) Washington both of Axton, VA; one brother, George (Betty) Hairston of Gaffney, SC; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, April 5, 2022, at 1 p.m. at the C.R.V. Memorial Chapel at Hairston Funeral Home with Elder Percy Stockton, Eulogist. Burial will follow at the Rock Hill Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery, 148 Stockton Rd., Martinsville, VA. Viewing will be held on Monday April 4, 2022, at Hairston Funeral Home between the hours of 1 p.m. until 5 p.m. In accordance with the CDC, a face covering, and social distancing is required. All other times, the family will be receiving friends at the home of her son, Barry Stockton, 634 Stockton Road, Martinsville, VA. The family ask that when visiting the home that you would please observe all CDC requirements.
