Obituary For Cathy W. Thomas
On Wednesday, May 22, 2024, Cathy White Thomas, 65, of English Rd., Martinsville transitioned from this earthly life to eternal life at her residence. She was born May 13, 1959, in Chatham, Virginia to Lillie Mae Harris (Alphonzo Harris).
Cathy was preceded in death by her loving grandparents, John Henry and Venie Harris White; her great grandparents, Walter and Mable Harris; and one uncle, Neil Harris.
Cathy attended Northside High School in Gretna, VA, and Martinsville High School in Martinsville, VA. She was employed by Hanes Brand for over 20 years where she retired. Cathy was a faithful member of Calvery United Church of Jesus Christ under the leadership of the late Bishop Willie Doug Ingram, Sr. since 2000. While at Calvery, Cathy was a member of the Ushers Ministry, the Choir, and the Women’s Ministry.
Those left to cherish her memory include: her husband, Timothy W. Thomas of the home; her mother and stepfather, Lillie Harris and Alphonzo Harris of Martinsville, VA; two stepsons, Keon Thomas, and Devante Seay; one stepdaughter, Britany Atkinson; seven grandchildren; two sisters, Lydia A. Harris, and Michelle Harris both of Greensboro, NC; mother-in-law, Daisy Thomas of Martinsville, VA; cousin who Cathy loved as a sister, Felita Briggs of Greensboro, NC; and a host of other relatives, and friends.
A visitation service will be held on Wednesday, May 29, 2024, at 11:30 a.m. with the funeral service at 12 noon at Mt. Sinai Apostle Church of Christ in God, 7 Peters St., Martinsville with Bishop J.C. Richardson, Jr., Eulogist. Interment will follow at the Thomas Family Cemetery, Stella, VA.
A public visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 28, 2024, at Hairston Funeral Home, 301 Fayette St., Martinsville between the hours of 1 p.m. and 5 p.m. Other times, the family will be receiving friends at the home, 222 English Rd., Martinsville from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. daily. Live streaming of the funeral service will be available at Hairston Funeral Home live via Facebook.
