Cecil Dillard Stone was born February 1, 1963, in Martinsville, VA to the late Henry Alexander and Dorothy Morrison Dillard. She departed this life on April 10, 2024, in Delray Beach, FL. She is preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Muriel (Babycake) Dillard.
Cecil was a 1981 graduate of Laurel Park High School. After high school, she attended National Business College. She went on to work many years at Tultex, Sara Lee and finally E.I. Dupont before becoming disabled. Cecil spent her entire life in Martinsville, but moved to Coral Springs, FL in October 2023 to be with her son and grandson.
Prior to illness, Cecil was an active member of Meadow Christian Church, D.O.C. She was active in various ministries and was an overall supporter of the church.
Cecil is survived by her son, Darwin Dillard of Coral Springs, FL; her beloved grandson, Darwin Dillard Jr. (DJ) and his mother, Samantha Pearl of Coral Springs, FL; her life partner, Victor Copening of Martinsville, VA; three brothers, Henry Travis Dillard and Stephan Dillard (Traketa) of Martinsville, VA and Corey Dillard (Delois) of Chesapeake, VA; two sisters, Brenda Hairston and Shelia Dillard of Martinsville, VA; four nieces, Takara, Tenisha, Tyana and Tashala; three nephews, Juan, Desmond and Trayvion; great-nieces (her girls), TaMya, Zyon, Aubrey, O’liviah, London, Paris, Destiny and Kaylani; great-nephews, Jaqueze and Daquan; three uncles, Henry, Joe and James Morrison; numerous cousins, and a host of family members and friends.
A visitation service will be held on Saturday, April 20, 2024, at 11:30 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 12 p.m. at Meadow Christian Church, D.O.C., 1140 Meadowood Trail, Martinsville, VA. The burial will follow at the Morrison Family Cemetery, Stockton Rd., Martinsville, VA. A public viewing will be held on Friday, April 19, 2024, at Hairston Funeral Home, 301 Fayette St., Martinsville between the hours of 1 p.m. until 5 p.m. At other times, the family will be receiving friends at the home of Victor Copening, 218 Tanyard Rd., Martinsville, VA.
