In Loving Memory of Celestine “Mickey” Jamison June 9, 1939- On February 24, 2025, Celestine “Mickey” Walker Jamison, 85, of Martinsville Virginia, transitioned from this earthy life to eternal life at Martinsville Health and Rehabilitation Center. She was born June 9,1939 to the late Mae Celia Eggleston Walker and the late Richard L. Walker. She was preceded in death by her husband, the late George R. Jamison and her brother Robert Lee Walker, caregivers, Carolyn Noel and Brenda Hairston.
She was a 1956 graduate of George Washington Carver High School at the age of 16. She was employed by Tultex Mills Inc. for 25 years and Virginia Employment Commission until her health began to decline. She attended Rock Hill Primitive Baptist Church. She will be remembered by family and friends as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend to all who knew her.
She is survived by one son, Cornelius (Bernita) Jamison of Blythewood, South Carolina; one daughter, Cecelia Jamison of Martinsville, Virginia; three grand-daughters, Ty’Nesha (Javon) Scales of Wirtz, Virginia, Whitney (Robert) Sherman of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Victoria Jamison of Charlotte, NC.; four great grand-children, Avery and Aubree Scales and Carter and Spencer Sherman; one Sister-in-law; Doretha Jamison, of Martinsville, Virginia. A special recognition to caregivers; Linda Dillard of Martinsville, VA Airfeen Farris of Eden, NC, Martinsville Health and Rehab Center and the Adult Day Care Center of Martinsville, Virginia.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 1 at 12 noon at Rock Hill Primitive Baptist Church, 148 Stockton Road preceded by a visitation at 11:30 a.m. with Elder Percy Stockton, Eulogist. A private graveside burial will follow at the Jamison Family Cemetery.
A public viewing will be held on Friday, February 28, 2025, at Hairston Funeral Home, 301 Fayette St., Martinsville between the hours of 1 p.m. until 5 p.m. Other times, the family will receive friends at the residence, 66 Stockton Rd., Martinsville. Live streaming of the funeral service will be available at Hairston Funeral Home live via Facebook.
