On Friday, October 24, 2025, Clara J. Law, 78, of Askins St., Martinsville peacefully transitioned from this earthly life at her residence. She was born in Pittsylvania, County, Virgina on July 15, 1947, to the late George Law and Edith Ann Jamison Law.
In addition to her parents, Clara was preceded in death by one daughter, Freda K. Law; one sister, Mae Lois Florence and two brothers, William Law and Edward Law.
Clara was a faithful member of New Design Missionary Baptist where she served as a Sunday School Teacher and was a member of the Choir until her health began to fail. She retired from One Hour Martinizing after many years of service.
Clara leaves behind a legacy of love, faith and resilience through her two daughters, Edith Law of Martinsville, VA and Patricia Cobbs of Ann Harbor, MI; granddaughter, Chloe Cobbs of Ann Harbor, MI; grandson, Michael Law of Martinsville, VA; three sisters, Nancy Estes and Sandra Law both of Martinsville, VA and Frances Shufford of Axton, VA; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
A visitation service will be held on Friday, October 31, 2025, at 11:30 a.m. with the funeral service at 12 noon at New Design Missionary Baptist Church, 3864 Medical Center Rd., Axton, VA with Pastor Tony Dillard, Eulogist. Interment will follow at the New Design Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery.
A public viewing will be available on Thursday, October 30, 2025, at Hairston Funeral Home, 301 Fayette St., Martinsville between the hours of 1 p.m. until 5 p.m. Other times, the family will receive friends at the home of her sister, Sandra Law, 530 Laurel Dr., Martinsville on Wednesday, October 29, 2025, between the hours of 2 p.m. until 7 p.m. Live streaming of the funeral service will be available at Hairston Funeral Home live via Facebook.
