Perfect picture for Cordie's obituary. Looks like he is off to teach tennis. Such a kind and gentle person with the children. Loved watching him teach when I took different ones to him. A very special friend that will be missed. Hugs and prayers to Golden and family.
I will miss our daily phone calls talking about everything. Rest easy, my brother and tell our family hello when you get to heaven. I will still take care of Martina.
To Juanita and the Burnette family, I am very sorry to hear of your loss. I am praying for comfort and fond memories of your loved one! Ed Hairston
Words just aren't enough to convey what my friendship with Cordie meant to me! Our conversations about life, faith, and family were always deep and meaningful. We also shared a major dislike of germs, especially in the kitchen! He was a coach to our girls, and then their boss at the tennis club, and then a friend to our entire family. I always loved to hear him pray over the communion table. I loved getting updates about Golden and joined him in many prayers over him. Cordie just made us all better because we could see God working in and through him! My friend, I can only imagine your homecoming when your eyes met Jesus. It must have been an awesome site to behold! Until we met again!
Mr. Cordie was always a nice and easy going man as I remember him while Martina and I were friends in school. The family will be in my continued prayers...May God be your Comforter in the days to come....
Cordie was such a fun loving, energetic person. We always loved coming to Va and spending time at his house. My fondest memory was him teaching my sister and I how to drive in his big truck. He will truly be missed. Sending Love and Prayers to the family. Rest in Heaven Cousin...Monica Malone and Family

So sad to hear of Cordie's passing. He was such a good man. He was the type of fellow you could talk to for hours. He taught my granddaughter tennis lessons at Chatmoss. Abigail really enjoyed him and was taught so much. Cordie was one of a kind. RIP.
Cordie was a bright light in my life when I needed it the most. He and Golden would stay up late to make sure I made it to my house if I was traveling home late at night. Cordie & Anita hosted me like family for Christmas. He also made sure he reminded me tying my shoes during my tennis lesson was "the oldest trick in the book." He always had a great story to tell and I loved hanging out with him. I never knew how old he was, he was cool and smooth! I remember him telling me his age one day and I was shocked. That man could outrun me any day. He molded Golden into a true gentleman and loved him to the moon and back. Cordie and Golden will always have a special place in my life and my heart. I will miss his phone calls and hearing him say "BABY GIRL! How yall doing!?" Will and I send the most love and hugs to Golden, Anita, and the family.
