Our beloved Darrick Keith Giles 53, of Stoney Mountain Rd., Martinsville peacefully transitioned from this earthly life on Tuesday, June 17, 2025, at Hummingbird Center, Vermont. He was born May 12, 1972, in Martinsville, VA to Irma M. Giles and the late John Giles, Jr.
In addition to his father, Darrick was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, John and Glenora Giles and his maternal grandparents, Earnest and Irma Beville.
Darrick obtained his culinary degree. He then obtained an associate degree in Robotic Engineering and certification as a Personal Trainer from Camden County College, Blackwood, NJ. After relocating to Virginia, Darrick received his Commercial Driver’s License from Patrick Henry Community College. He attended Morning Star Holy Church.
Darrick has a passion for cooking and baking, when he wasn’t whipping up delicious meals in the kitchen, you could find him fishing, crabbing, white water rafting, skiing, snowboarding, gardening or car racing.
Those left to cherish his memory include his mother, Irma M. Giles of Martinsville, VA; son, Mathias K. Bannister of Martinsville, VA; sister, Dr. Karen M. Giles of New Castle, DE; and a host of other relatives, and friends.
A visitation service will be held on Friday, June 27, 2025, at 11:30 a.m. with the funeral service at 12 noon at the C.R.V. Memorial Chapel at Hairston Funeral Home, 301 Fayette St., Martinsville with Reverend Tyler C. Millner, Eulogist. Interment will follow at Carver Memorial Gardens, 869 Parkway Dr., Martinsville.
A public viewing will be held on Thursday, June 26, 2025, at Hairston Funeral Home between the hours of 1 p.m. until 5 p.m. Other times, the family will receive friends at the residence, 1595 Stoney Mountain Rd., Martinsville. Live streaming of the funeral service will be available at Hairston Funeral Home live via Facebook.
Darrick requests that family and friends bring a memento or souvenir to place inside the casket.
