Obituary For Deacon John Clarence Hunt, Jr.

Deacon John Clarence Hunt, Jr., 85, of Hidden Forest Dr., Martinsville peacefully transitioned from this earthly life on Sunday, August 31, 2025, at his residence.

Deacon John Hunt was born on July 4, 1940, in Martinsville, VA the son of the late John C. Hunt, Sr. and Helena Carter Hunt. He spent over 30 years working at E.I. Dupont, where he was respected for his dedication and quiet leadership.

Deacon John Hunt was a faithful member of Jerusalem Christian Church (DOC), where he served as a Deacon, a Treasurer, and a member of the Usher Board.

In addition to his parents, Deacon John Hunt was preceded in death by his loving wife, Betty Hairston Hunt; his daughter, Saundra D. Hunt and his sister, Jean Hunt Agee.

Deacon John Hunt leaves to cherish his memory one granddaughter, Helaina Spencer of Martinsville, VA; one grandson, Dennitric J. Hunt of Martinsville, VA; and a host of other relatives, and friends.

A graveside service will be held on Friday, September 5, 2025, at 11 a.m. at Carver Memorial Gardens, 869 Parkway Dr., Martinsville.

A public viewing for Deacon John Hunt will be held on Thursday, September 4, 2025, at Hairston Funeral Home, 301 Fayette St., Martinsville between the hours of 1 p.m. until 5 p.m. Live streaming of the graveside service will be available at Hairston Funeral Home live via Facebook.
