Deborah Ann Tarpley Snype Richardson, 70, transitioned from this life on Monday, July 7, 2025. She was born on April 26, 1955, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and resided in New York.
Deborah graduated from Jamaica High School in Queens, New York and attended Laguardia Community College in Long Island City, New York. She worked as an executive secretary in New York City for many years before retiring.
Deborah truly knew that it was more blessed to give than receive. Her generosity was felt by all who knew her. Deborah was a beautiful soul who never hesitated to help anyone. She touched the lives of everyone she knew with her sense of humor, warmth, honesty, and outgoing nature. She lived her life to the fullest and loved spending time with her family and friends. Although Deborah is gone, she will live in the hearts of her family and friends forever.
Deborah is survived by her husband, Steve Richardson; son, Rahsan Snype; step-son, Travis Davis; granddaughter, Briana Snype Swan (Jacob); great-grandsons, Jackson Swan and Wesley Swan; Mother, Alease Tarpley; step-father, Alexander Tarpley; sister, Katherine Tarpley; brother, Christopher (Morticia) Marrow; step-brothers, Michael Tarpley, Daryl Tarpley, Keith (Angela) Tarpley, Mark (Michelle) Wilson, and Donald Tarpley; step-sister, Cassandra Tarpley; brother-in-law, Terry Pittman; and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
She is preceded in death by her father, Randolph Tarpley; sister, Sandra Marrow-Pittman; and stepbrother, Rodney Tarpley.
A family visitation will be held on Saturday, July 19, 2025, at 11:30 a.m. until the time of her funeral at 12 noon at the C.R.V. Memorial Chapel at Hairston Funeral Home, 301 Fayette Street, Martinsville, VA. The burial will follow at Holland-Harris Family Cemetery, 1061 Mapleton, Callands, VA.
A public viewing will be held on Friday, July 18, 2025, from the times of 1 p.m. until 5 p.m. at Hairston Funeral Home. Live streaming of the service will be available at Hairston Funeral Home live via Facebook.
