On Wednesday, June 21, 2023, Delois K. Stockton, 81, of Meadow Garden Ln., Martinsville transitioned from this earthly life to eternal life. She was born February 26, 1942, in Virginia, the daughter of the late Daniel Keen, and the late Mary M. Petress Keen.
In addition to her parents, Delois was preceded in death by her husband James E. Stockton; one daughter, Sharron Tarpley; son-in-law, Kenyon M. Keen, and two brothers, Melvin Keen, and Clinton Scales.
Delois was a member of Red Hollow Primitive Baptist Church. She attended George Washington Carver High School and retired from Bassett Walker Knitting Co. after many years of service.
Those left to cherish her memory include two daughters, Sandra Dillard (Ronald) of Hampton, VA, and Reva S. Keen of Martinsville, VA; two sons, Colvin D. Stockton (Sheldon), and Kendrick O. Stockton (Cathy) both of Martinsville, VA; nine grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; four sisters, Geraldine Peatross of Eden, NC, Beverly Hampton of Reidsville, NC, Diana Hampton of Cascade, VA, and Sandra Cabiness of Greensboro, NC; one brother, Irvin Keen of Winston Salem, NC; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
A visitation service will be held on Tuesday, June 27, 2023, at 11:30 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 12 noon at Red Hollow Primitive Baptist Church, 30568 Jeb Stuart Hwy., Patrick County, VA with Elder Kevin Hunter, Eulogist. The burial will follow at Stoney Mountain Primitive Baptist Church, Bondock Rd., Martinsville. A public viewing will be held on Monday, June 26, 2023, at Hairston Funeral Home, 301 Fayette St., Martinsville, VA between the hours of 1 p.m. until 5 p.m. Other times, the family will be receiving friends at the home 240 Meadow Garden Ln., Martinsville.
