On Sunday, April 5, 2026, our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend, Dorothy Marie Martin Wilson, 77, of Axton, VA peacefully transitioned to her heavenly home.
Dorothy was born on February 12, 1949, in Martinsville, VA to the late Frank Martin and Clara Waller Martin.
In addition to her parents, Dorothy was preceded in death one daughter, Johnsie Wilson, and two brothers, Jack Martin and Charles Martin.
Dorothy was a faithful member of Reach Out Apostolic Tabernacle until her health declined. She still continued to love God and all His people. She loved going to church, loved the children, teaching in Christian Education and babysitting. Most of all, she loved all of her family and spent as much time as she could with them.
Dorothy was a graduate of Albert Harris High School. After graduating from high school, Dorothy attended 2 years of college at the Technical Business College, Winston Salem, NC. She was a diligent worker and had a career with the Hardee's franchise.
Those left to cherish her memory includes her devoted husband, John Wilson, Sr. of the home; two daughters, Alicia Williams and Sheila Harris both of Martinsville, VA; one son, John Wilson, Jr.; five grandchildren, India Harris, Tevin Harris, Ronticus Wilson, Ta'Quina Wilson and DeAngelo Wilson; five great-grandchildren, Lason Jones, Dae'sylo Jones, A'Nyah Brown, Serenity Wilson and Dillion Wilson; one sister, Mary Waller of Axton, VA; a nephew that she raised, Chris Waller; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
A visitation service will be held on Tuesday, April 14, 2026, at 11:30 a.m. with the funeral service at 12 noon at Reach Out Apostolic Tabernacle, 225 Brenda Dr., Axton, VA with Bishop Lorenzo Hall, Eulogist. Interment will follow at the Hairston Family Cemetery, Cascade, VA.
The family will receive friends at Hairston Funeral Home on Monday, April 13, 2026, between the hours of 1 p.m. until 5 p.m. Live streaming of the funeral service will be available at Hairston Funeral Home Live via Facebook.
