On Thursday, December 12, 2024, Earnest Jamison 79, of B St., Martinsville transitioned peacefully at his residence. He was born on June 6, 1945, in Martinsville, VA to the late Robert Muscoe Jamison and Virgie Mitchell Jamison.
In addition to his parents, Earnest was preceded in death by his brother, Robert S. Jamison.
Earnest attended Fayette Street Christian Church (DOC). Earnest was a graduate of Albert Harris High School class of 1963. Earnest furthered his education by attending North Carolina A & T State University where he received his bachelor's degree in 1967. He began teaching at Ravenswood School in Palo Alto, CA for several years. While he was in California he opened a cabinet shop. He had a passion for dog breeding, specifically beagles. He retired from Pannell Knitting Company after many years of service.
Those left to cherish his memory include two daughters, Donnarae J. Hall (Ken) of Ridgeway, VA and Laura Cherry Carter (John) of Collinsville, VA; two grandsons, Douglas Dunbar, II, and Darion Dunbar (Lakita); three great-grandchildren, Jayden Dunbar, Destinee Dunbar. and King Dunbar; one sister, Annette Cross of Martinsville, VA; one sister in law, Ora Jamison of Chicago, Il; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, December 20, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. with the funeral service at the C.R.V. Memorial Chapel at Hairston Funeral Home, 301 Fayette St., Martinsville, VA. Interment will follow at the Mitchell Family Cemetery, 1140 Mitchell Rd., Martinsville, VA.
A public viewing will be held on Thursday, December 19, 2024, at Hairston Funeral Home between the hours of 1 p.m. until 5 p.m. Other times, the family will be receiving friends at the home of his sister, Annette Cross, 711 First St., Martinsville, VA. Live streaming of the funeral service will be available at Hairston Funeral Home live via Facebook.

To Annette and family. I am very sorry to learn of the death of Reginald. We were classmates at Albert Harris. He was a good guy and just a nice person. I last saw him about 25 years ago. As friends do, we laughed and talked about the good old days. He will not be forgotten.
