On Saturday, May 25, 2024, Elijah Walker, 67, of Katheren St., Martinsville transitioned from this earthly life to eternal life at his residence. He was born February 9, 1957, in Martinsville, VA to the late David L. Walker, and Mary Moore Walker.
In addition to his parents, Elijah was preceded in death by two brothers, Benjamin Moore, and Rufus Walker, and two nephews, Marcus Walker, and Tony Hairston.
Elijah was a graduate of Martinsville High School class of 1974. He went on to further his education by attending Shaw University in Raleigh, NC where he received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Education. Elijah taught school at Albert Harris Elementary School, and at Ferrum College. He later retired from Southern Finishing.
Those left to cherish his memory includes: two sisters, Patricia Pritchett, and Augusta Piggott both of Martinsville, VA; one brother, David Walker two nephews, Tony Pritchett, and Willie Pritchett both of Martinsville, VA; four nieces, Robin Pritchett, Amelia Niblett, Meka Holland, and Ruth Walker all of Martinsville, VA; several grand nieces, grand nephews, other relatives, and friends.
A visitation service will be held on Friday, May 31, 2024, at 11:30 a.m. with the funeral service at 12 noon at the C.R.V. Memorial Chapel at Hairston Funeral Home, 301 Fayette St., Martinsville, VA with Elder Lavarra Hagwood, Eulogist. Interment will be private. A public viewing will be held Thursday, May 30, 2024, from 1 p.m. until 5 p.m. at Hairston Funeral Home.
