Elizabeth Smith, 92, of Martinsville, VA, departed this life on Friday, January 29, 2021 at Mulberry Creek Nursing Facility. She was born in Martinsville, VA on December 23, 1928, the daughter of the late Penn Walker and the late Pearl Baker Walker.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William Cook Smith; one son, Ronald Bray; and four sisters, Arlene Witten, Beatrice Bray, Willie Mae Walker and Ida Pinnix; one brother, Howard Walker.
Elizabeth retired from the Tultex Corporation after many years of service. She was a graduate of the Martinsville-Henry County Training School.
Elizabeth leaves to cherish her memory, three sons, Albert Smith of Killeen, TX, Gary Lee Smith and Aaron William Smith both of Martinsville, VA; two sisters, Jean Fleming of Richmond, VA and Gracie Shelton of Martinsville, VA; one brother, Elmer Walker of Martinsville, VA; two grandchildren, Brandon Smith of San Diego, CA and Brittney Smith of San Antonio, TX; two step-grandchildren, Kawanda Soil and Jamaal Wilkens both of San Antonio, TX; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
A graveside services will be held on Friday, February 5, 2021 at 11 a.m. at the Walker Family Cemetery, Martinsville, VA. A public viewing will be held on Thursday, February 4, 2021 at Hairston Funeral Home between the hours of 1 p.m. until 5 p.m. In accordance with the CDC, a face covering, and social distancing is required.
