On Sunday, April 27, 2025, Erick Trotter 48, of Browns Summit, NC fell asleep peacefully in death at his residence. He was born in Martinsville, VA on May 21, 1976, to Frances Moore Trotter and the late Tyrone Trotter.
In addition to his father, Erick was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Luther and Dora Trotter, his maternal grandparents, Joseph and Pearlie Moore and his brother-in-law, Freddie Crawford.
Erick was a graduate of Martinsville High School class of 1995. He studied with the Jehovah's Witnesses faith.
Erick leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife, Cartina Adams Trotter of the home; his mother, Frances M. Trotter of Martinsville, VA; children, Isaiah Baker of Martinsville, VA, Erica Trotter Farris (Jamie), Eriyanna Trotter, Erick M. Trotter, Eriyielle Trotter all of Greensboro, NC and Edrick Trotter of Washington, DC; eight grandchildren, Jaiden, Jailen, Jamier, Jamie “BJ”, Jamell, Mikaiya, Errow, and Jailani; two sisters, Tamika Trotter of Martinsville, VA and Tosha Trotter Crawford of Washington, DC; his twin brother, Derrick Trotter (Glenda) of Baltimore, MD; three nephews, Hakeem Trotter (Brittany), Shymell Trotter (Gloria) and Anthony Trotter (Katelin); one aunt, Patricia Holland; three uncles, Lynwood Trotter, Larry Moore and Kenneth Moore; and a host of other relatives, and friends.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, May 2, 2025, at 12 noon at the C.R.V. Memorial Chapel at Hairston Funeral Home, 301 Fayette Street, Martinsville, VA. with Derrick Trotter, Speaker. Interment will be private.
The family will receive friends at Hairston Funeral Home, 301 Fayette St., Martinsville, VA on Thursday, May 1, 2025, between the hours of 1 p.m. until 4:30 p.m. Other times, the family will receive friends at the home of his mother, Frances Trotter, 8 Aaron St., Martinsville, VA.

My condolences to the family. I remember meeting Erick for the first time about 25 years ago when he first started dating my cousin Tina. Praying for your entire family. Erick, may you rest in peace. You are loved and will never be forgotten.
My most sincere condolences to the family and friends. Erick you were a great man, son, husband, father and most of all grandfather. You meant so much to Erica and those babies. Fly high my friend and watch over her, Jamie, those babies and the rest of your family. There definitely is a void but I promise to help to get her through this tough time!
Erick was one of my students when I taught at Albert Harris. I am sorry to hear of his passing. I enjoyed working with him and his parents. May you rest in peace.
