On Sunday, January 1, 2024, Ethel Stone, 91, of Martinsville, VA, transitioned from this earthly life to eternal life at SOVAH Health-Martinsville. Born December 21, 1932, in Pittsylvania County, VA to James H. Law, and Julia Cabiness Law.
In addition to her parents, Ethel was preceded in death by her husband, James D. Stone, Sr., and one son, James D. Stone, Jr.
Ethel was a member at St. Paul High Street Baptist Church. She attended Virginia State University and retired from the Tultex Corporation.
Those left to cherish her memory include one sister, Sarah Watkins of Danville, VA; niece/caregiver, Roberta and Curtis Stockton of Martinsville, VA; and a host of other relatives, and friends.
A visitation service will be held on Friday, January 5, 2024, at 11:30 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 12 noon at the C.R.V. Memorial Chapel with Pastor Matthew Brown, Eulogist. The burial will follow at Carver Memorial Gardens, 2256 Carver Rd., Martinsville, VA. A public viewing will be held on Thursday, January 4, 2024, at Hairston Funeral Home between the hours of 1 p.m. until 5 p.m. Other times, the family will receive friends at the home, 601 First St., Martinsville, VA between the hours of 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. daily. The family ask that when visiting the home that you would please wear a face covering.
