Obituary For Eugene T. David
On November 9, 2020 God called home his beloved son Eugene Thomas David at Sovah Health of Martinsville. Affectionately known as Big Daddy, Geno and Newdie he was born March 29, 1944 in Mayberry, West VA to the late Benjamin and Elsie David. He is preceded in death by two sons Kojak David and Bruce David, two brothers Benjamin David, Jr and Leonard Keith David, and one sister Janice David Charles.
Eugene attended Lee M. Wade High School in Rocky Mount, VA. Later in life he moved to Pittsburgh, PA where he worked at the Steel Mill until it closed its doors. In early 2000 Eugene relocated back to his home of Union Hall, VA he was employed by Rock 10 as a Security Guard and as a personal aide for Dr Arthur Sleeper.
Eugene joined Lovely Valley Baptist Church in Wirtz, VA at an early age. Later in life he moved his membership to First Baptist Church Martinsville, VA where he was a member of the Trustee Ministry, the Male Chorus and the Mass Choir.
He leaves to cherish his wife of 16 years Scharlean Cook Randolph, two sons Eugene David Jr, and Elbert David both of Pittsburgh PA, 4 daughters Velvet (James) Scurlark of Albany, GA; Sophia David, Shawn Jones and Janene (Percy) Chapman all of Pittsburgh, PA. A Stepdaughter Zanobia Prather of Waxhaw, NC. 3 brothers Ronald (Lorraine) David of Southfield, MI; Bernard David of Roanoke, VA; Kenneth David of Rocky Mount, VA; 4 sisters Vivian Edwards, Sylvia Armstrong and Mary Robinson all of Union Hall, VA and Brenda Cooley of Belton, SC. Eugene had 30 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews. Eugene had a group of cousins and friends that he grew up with and remained very close to over the years whom he considered his brothers and sisters.
Eugene will be remembered for being funny and also straight forward. He would do anything for someone but wouldn't hesitate to say what was on his mind. His character, strong will and personality was like no other. Funeral services for Mr. David will be held Saturday, November 14, 2020 at 12 noon at the C.R.V. Memorial Chapel at Hairston Funeral Home. A public viewing will be held on Friday, November 13, 2020 from 1 P.M. to 5 P.M. at Hairston Funeral Home. In accordance with the CDC, a face covering, and social distancing will be required.

Also, he is a cousin of mine his father and my mother were first cousin Jane Dennis, hea sister I went to the end way together also Mary Davis, their father what's cousin Ben Davis who was my mother's cousin as I said before and if Mary if you read this I want you to know that I was sorry to hear about Eugene if you ever get a chance call me I'm still living in northern New Jersey Hackensack 201-343-0107. I want you to know how very sorry I am to hear about the death of Eugene. This is a difficult time for all of us. I want you to know that you are in my prayers right now. Memories of Eugene linger in the minds of all of us who know and loved him. We are all better for having known him. If heaven can be more heavenly, it already is. After all, Eugene is there.

My heart felt sympathy to my Uncle Eugene's wife and children, and their families. I want to share my last memory of him with you. Three week's ago he was in the neighborhood visiting with friends, He was sitting in his truck as we spoke. Jokingly he gave me a proper fist bump "hello" with his huge hand. And on that huge hand was a huge gold ring with letters spelling out the word "DAD". I think it also had shining diamond in the center. I tell you this because I was fixated on this ring the whole time we talked and joked. Not so much for just it's beauty, but because I kept thinking and feeling the pride in which he wore it. I felt his pride to show the love from his children. I kept wanting to ask him about it, but didn't get the opportunity, you know how he's always talking fast. So instead I just took in the feeling. So now today I take the opportunity share this moment with his children and to let you know, that day I felt your father's tremendous love for each of you. And I pray you take comfort in this. And knowing your earthly father as well as your heavenly Father both love you all dearly. Love cousin Lisa & family

The short time of meeting Geno, it felt like I knew him all along. He had a way with words that smiles were shared in brighten days of laughter.
