Obituary For Fara Mae Wimbush Hairston

On Wednesday, June 25, 2025, God in His Infinite wisdom called Fara Mae Wimbush Hairston, 83, of Carver Road, Martinsville, Virginia from labor to reward. She was born April 16, 1942, in Henry County, Virginia to the late James “Utch” Pannell and Ruby Barbour Norman France.

In addition to her parents, Fara was preceded in death by her husband, Vincent Wimbush, Sr; one son, Roddrick O'Shea Wimbush, two sisters, Westover Wimbush and Equilla Henderson, and stepfather, Richard S. Norman.

Fara was a member of High Ridge Missionary Baptist Church where she served as a Missionary. She retired from Liberty Fabrics after many years of service. Fara was a graduate of Patrick County School System.

Fara leaves to cherish her loving memories: three daughters, Janice Rahmaan (Leander) of Baltimore, MD, Shirleen Hylton of Martinsville, VA and Stephanie Scott (Kevin) of Greensboro, NC; one son, Vincent Wimbush, Jr. (Dalzene) of Martinsville, VA; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one brother, Dr. James S. Norman (Pat) of Petersburg, VA; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

A visitation service will be held on Monday, June 30, 2025, at 1:30 p.m. with the funeral service at 2 p.m. at High Ridge Missionary Baptist Church, 1455 Carver Rd., Martinsville, VA with Pastor Keishawn Niblett, Eulogist. Interment will follow at Iron Belt Christian Church (DOC), 336 Iron Belt Ln., Stuart, VA.

A public viewing will be held on Sunday, June 29, 2025, at Hairston Funeral Home, 301 Fayette St., Martinsville, VA between the hours of 1 p.m. until 5 p.m. the family will be present during this time. Other times, the family will receive friends at the residence, 2197 Carver Rd., Martinsville, VA between the hours of 3 p.m. until 7 p.m. daily.
