On Thursday, August 7, 2025, Florence Watkins Amos 94, of West Maple Dr., Axton, VA transitioned peacefully at Ancora Compassionate Care, Reidsville, NC. She was born in Martinsville, VA on July 7, 1931, the daughter of the late William O. Watkins and Minnie E. Law Watkins.
Florence was a member of Moral Hill Missionary Baptist Church where she served as a Missionary, was a member of the Choir and she was church Musician for over 50 years. retired from Standard Garments/Hampco Apparel after many years of service.
Florence leaves behind a legacy of love, faith and resilience through her two sons, Paul L. Amos (Wanda) of Axton, VA and Steven R. Amos of Richmond, VA; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one brother, Virgil O. Watkins of Martinsville, VA; sister-in-law, Leadell R. Watkins of Axton, VA; brother-in-law, Jimmie Carter of Axton, VA; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
A visitation service will be held on Saturday, August 16, 2025, at 11:30 a.m. with the funeral service at 12 noon at Moral Hill Missionary Baptist Church, 50 Moral Hill Dr., Axton, VA with Pastor Waddell Jones, Eulogist. Interment will follow at the Watkins Family Cemetery, 889 W. Maple Dr., Axton, VA.
A public viewing will be held on Friday, August 15, 2025, at Hairston Funeral Home, 301 Fayette St., Martinsville, VA between the hours of 2 p.m. until 5 p.m. The family will be present during this time. Live streaming of the funeral service will be available at Hairston Funeral Home live via Facebook.
