Frances M. Long, 84, of Highland St., Martinsville,VA, departed this life on Tuesday, July 28, 2020 at Rockingham Health Care, Eden, NC. She was born on November 12, 1935 in Henry County, VA, the daughter of the late Pearl Johnson Martin. In addition to her mother, Frances was preceded in death by her grandparents who raised her, Elder Joshua and Eva Lowe Hairston; step father, Ceolis Martin; her daughter, Karen Stockton; one sister, Eva Mae Elston; and her brother, Fredrick Martin; one grandson, Antonio Long; great grandson, Tony Bruce; great great great granddaughter, Nevah Moss; son in law; David Stockton.
Frances excepted the by Lord at an early age while in the care of her grandparents in Jenkins Jones, WVA. She received her early education in the Kimball School System. Upon returning back to Martinsville, she joined the Jerusalem Christian Church (DOC), where she served on the Usher Board and the Christian Women's Fellowship. She was faithfully attending the Church of our Lord Jesus Christ.
For many years, she was an Insurance agent and worked at Golden Living Nursing Home, and later worked at Harmony Hall Assisted Living facility .
Frances leaves to cherish her memory, two daughters, Loretta Long of Ridgeway, VA, and Mary McAllister (Johnny) both of Martinsville, VA; three sons, Robert Long, Anthony Long, Sr. Both of Martinsville, VA, and Minister Earnest D. Long of the home; sister in law, Barbara Martin of Bluefield, VA; brother in law, James Elston, Sr. of Salem, VA; 14 grandchildren; 32 great grandchildren; 12 great great grandchildren; 3 great great great grandchildren; adopted sister, Annie Morrison of Martinsville, VA; a special friend, John Fallen of Danville, VA; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral service will be held on Thursday, August 13, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. at The C.R.V. Memorial Chapel at Hairston Funeral Home with Dr. Charles Whitfield, Eulogist. A public viewing will be held on Wednesday, August 12, 2020 from 12:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. at The C.R.V. Memorial Chapel at Hairston Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Fair Haven Memorial Park.
From our family to your family. Over the years, we have shared many great times together. Our Mothers were very close and that afforded us the opportunity to become close.
