Obituary For Fred O. Gravely
Fred Oliver Gravely gained his wings on Sunday, March 5, 2023, at Baptist Hospital. The son of the late William Oliver Gravely and the late Polly Ann Hairston Gravely, Fred was born on December 18, 1946, in Martinsville, VA. He was married to Mildred Marie Gravely, who survives.
Fred worked at Tultex, in Martinsville, VA, for 21 years; in addition, he worked at Mt. Olive Elementary School for 2 years as a custodian.
In addition to his parents, Fred was preceded in death by two sisters, Teresa Davis and Shirley Gravely.
In addition to his wife, those left to cherish his precious memories are one daughter, Catrenia Marie Gravely; one son, Frederick Wayne Gravely; three grandchildren, Myles Gravely, Morgan Gravely, and La’leonia Martin; four sisters, Lucy (Jimmy) Wilson of Norfolk, VA; Edith Redd and Emma Jean Jenkins both of Martinsville, VA, and Stella Haislip of Axton, VA; two brothers, Lewis Gravely and Mearl Gravely, both of Martinsville, VA; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 11, 2023, at 11 a.m. at the C.R.V. Memorial Chapel at Hairston Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Gravely Family Cemetery, Martinsville, VA. A public viewing will be held Friday, March 10, 2023, from 1 p.m. until 5 p.m. In accordance with the CDC a forcovering and social distancing will be required.
Arrangements are entrusted to Hairston Funeral Home.
