George Lee Thomas 73, of E. Church St., Martinsville, VA, departed this life on Saturday, January 29, 2022, at SOVAH Health-Martinsville. Born in Virginia on July 22, 1948, the son of the late Pearl Price Thomas.
In addition to his mother, George was preceded in death by one brother, John Henry Thomas: and two sisters, Mary Wright and Elbert Cook.
George was a member of Reach Out Apostolic Tabernacle. He was a United States Army Veteran and retired from Blue Ridge Health & Rehab Center.
Those left to cherish his memory include: his wife, Claudius Townsend Thomas of the home; one son, Christopher Lee Thomas of Richmond, VA; one brother, William David Thomas of Martinsville, VA; two sisters, Helen Wright of Rocky Mt., VA and Elsie Cook of Martinsville, VA; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 4, 2022, at 12 noon at the C.R.V. Memorial Chapel at Hairston Funeral Home with Bishop Lorenzo Hall, Eulogist. Burial will be private. Viewing will be held on Thursday, February 3, 2022, at Hairston Funeral Home between the hours of 1 p.m. until 5 p.m. In accordance with the CDC, a face covering, and social distancing is required. All other times, the family will be receiving friends at the home, 1151 E. Church St., Apt. 17A, Martinsville, VA. Between the hours of 2 p.m. till 4 p.m., and 6 p.m. until 7 p.m. The family ask that when visiting the home that you please observe all CDC guidelines.
