Obituary For Gladys Marie Craig
On Sunday, October 29, 2023, Gladys Craig 97, of Smith Rd., Martinsville transitioned from this earthly life to eternal life at her residence. She was born in Vivian, WVA on June 17, 1926, the daughter of Charlie Carter and Sarah Elizabeth Carter Burnett who preceded her in death.
In addition to her parents, Gladys was preceded in death by her husband, William Craig, one grandson, Michael Webster, her sister, Annie Mae Carter, and her brother, Charlie Lee Carter.
Gladys was a faithful member of Integrity Life Ministries where she served as the church custodian until her health began to fail her. She retired from American Furniture Company after many years of dedicated service.
Gladys leaves to cherish her precious memory two daughters, Willie Craig, and Cathy Craig both of Martinsville, VA; one son, Roy Craig (Rita) of MD; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; one great great-grandchild; two nieces; and a host of other relatives, and friends.
A visitation service will be held on Friday, November 10, 2023, at 11:30 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 12 noon at the C.R.V. Memorial Chapel at Hairston Funeral Home, 301 Fayette St., Martinsville, VA with Elder Vincent Harris, Eulogist. The burial will follow at Carver Memorial Gardens, 1310 Carver Rd., Martinsville, VA. A public viewing will be held on Thursday, November 9, 2023, at Hairston Funeral Home between the hours of 1 p.m. until 5 p.m. Other times, the family will be receiving friends at the home of her daughter, Willie Craig, 12 Jackson St., Martinsville, VA beginning on Wednesday, November 8, 2023.
