On Tuesday, December 16, 2025, Hattie Millner 93, of Danville, VA peacefully transitioned from this life at Cardinal Senior Living Facility, Danville, VA.
Hattie Gravely Millner, the seventh of eight children, was born September 28, 1932 to the late Julia Morrison Gravely and Robert Gravely in Henry County, VA. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Nannie Mae Gravely Fuller, and brothers Robert Gravely, Obie Gravely, Benjamin Gravely, Harold Gravely, and Louis Gravely. Hattie became a Christian at a young age and joined Moral Hill Missionary Baptist Church where she sang in the choir. After graduating from the Henry County Training School, she was employed by Jobbers Pants Factory in Martinsville, VA.
She gave birth to a son, Anthony (Tony) Quinn. Hattie relocated to New Rochelle, New York. However, after a short period, she moved to Washington, DC. On May 25, 1966, Hattie married David Eugene Millner and following a brief stay in the District of Columbia, they relocated and established a loving home in New Carrollton, Maryland, where she welcomed numerous nieces and nephews relocating to Maryland to reside at their home until they found their own permanent housing.
During her career, Hattie was employed by the mega grocery store chain Giant Food. During her tenure, she regularly represented Giant Food on a weekly television educational game show prior to retiring with distinguished service after 31 years.
A devout Christian, Hattie was an active member of Twelfth Street Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) where she served faithfully until her health failed, following the deaths of her beloved son, Tony and husband, David.
She leaves to mourn her passing one sister, Jannie Bell Booker and a host of nieces, nephews and members of the Gravely-Morrison Cousins Club, which she co-founded with her sister Jannie.
A visitation service will be held on Saturday, December 27, 2025, at 10:30 a.m. with the funeral service at 11 a.m. at Hairston Funeral Home, CRV Memorial Chapel, 301 Fayette St., Martinsville, VA, with Rev. Shirley Currie Hill, Eulogist. Interment will follow at Carver Memorial Gardens, 869 Parkway Dr., Martinsville, VA
The family will receive friends on Friday, December 26, 2025, at Hairston Funeral Home, between the hours of 1 p.m. and 5 p.m.
