Obituary For Hattie Odessa Green

On Saturday, September 13, 2025, Hattie Odessa Green 72, of Smith Lake Rd., Martinsville peacefully transitioned from this earthly life at Roanoke Memorial Hospital, Roanoke, VA. She was born in Spencer, VA the daughter of the late Walter Hairston and Hattie Ziglar Hairston.

In addition to her parents, Hattie was preceded in death by one daughter, Sharecka Green; two sisters, Willa Dean Moore and Shirley Mitchell, and four brothers, James Hairston, Roy Hairston, Robert David Hairston and Eugene Hairston.

Hattie leaves to cherish her memory one daughter, Rochella Green of Martinsville, VA; one son, Pearly Green (Keyshia) of Martinsville, VA; six grandchildren, Larry Green, Rayshawn Green, Rayquan Green, Jamar Hairston, Monifah Green and Emonie Green; five great-grandchildren; four sisters, Mary Hairston, Corine Thomas (Mark), Betty Hairston, and Kathy Fountain (Ray) all of Martinsville, VA; three brothers, Walter Hairston (Shirley), John Hairston and Calvin Hairston all of Martinsville, VA; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

A graveside service will be held on Friday, September 19, 2025, at 12 noon at the Spencer-Redd Family Cemetery, Stella Loop, Spencer, VA with Elder Earnest Long, Officiating.

A public viewing will be held on Thursday, September 18, 2025, at Hairston Funeral Home, 301 Fayette St., Martinsville, VA between the hours of 1 p.m. until 5 p.m. Other times, the family will receive friends at the residence, 1004 Smith Lake Rd., Apt. 1, Martinsville.
