Janice Kent, 61, of Martinsville, VA, departed this life on Saturday, August 14, 2021 at SOVAH Health-Martinsville. She was born in Virginia on March 16, 1960, the daughter of the late Earl R. Kent and the late Mavis M. Vaughn Kent.
In addition to her parents, Janice was preceded in death by one son, Jamell Kent; and four sisters, Olivia Hairston, Theresia Kent, Petrella Fuller, and Sharon Kent.
Janice was a graduate of Martinsville High School, class of 1978, and later received an Associates Degree from National Business College. She retired from Martinsville Novelty after many years of service. Janice was a member of Refuge Temple Ministries.
Janice leaves to cherish her memory, one son, Antonio C. Kent of Rocky Mount, VA; sister, Ada Earlene Kent Williams of Axton, VA; grandson, Ventson Kent of Martinsville, VA; aunt, Jean Dones of Martinsville, VA; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 21, 2021 at 3 p.m. at the Refuge Temple Ministries Annex with Elder Alan Preston, Eulogist. Burial will follow at Carver Memorial Gardens. A public viewing will be held on Friday, August 20, 2021 at Hairston Funeral Home between the hours of 1 p.m. until 5 p.m. In accordance with the CDC, a face covering and social distancing is required.
