Obituary For Jerry Jerome Smith
On Monday, March 30, 2026, Jerry Jerome Smith, 72, of JS Holland Rd., Ridgeway, VA peacefully transitioned from this life at Chippenham Hospital, Richmond, VA. He was born in White Plains, NY on October 31, 1953, to the late Margaret Smith McDuffie.
In addition to his parents, William and Margaret Mcduffie. Jerry was preceded in death by two sisters, Linda McDuffie and Tammy McDuffie and his maternal grandmother, Flora(MaFlora) who raised him.
Jerry attended and was baptized at Mayo Missionary Baptist Church. He retired from Southern Finishing and Basset Walker after many years of service. Jerry was a 1972 graduate of George Washington Carver High School.
Those left to cherish his memory includes two daughters, Fatima Penn of Ridgeway, VA and Ashley Wimbush of Martinsville, VA; one son, Deshaun Wimbush of Ridgeway, VA; fiancΓ© of 48 years, Bredina Wimbush of Ridgeway, VA; three grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; four sisters, Patricia Penn of Hampton, VA, Sharon Dodson of Ridgeway, VA and her husband Harold, Tonya Brown and her husband Roger of Burlington, NC and Monica McDuffie of Ridgeway, VA; one brother, William C. McDuffie, Jr. and his wife Doretha of Ridgeway, VA; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
A visitation service will be held on Saturday, April 4, 2026, at 1:30 p.m. with the funeral service at 2 p.m. at the C.R.V. Memorial Chapel at Hairston Funeral Home, 301 Fayette St., Martinsville with Pastor Dwight Mack, Eulogist. Interment will follow at the Smith Family Cemetery, 145 JS Holland Rd., Ridgeway, VA.
A public viewing will be held on Friday, April 3, 2026, at Hairston Funeral Home between the hours of 1 p.m. until 5 p.m. Other times, the family will receive friends at the residence, 145 JS Holland Rd., Ridgeway, VA. Live streaming of the funeral service will be available at Hairston Funeral Home live via Facebook.
