Obituary For Joe L. Hairston
On Tuesday, November 26, 2024, Joe L. Hairston 87, of Fayette St., Martinsville transitioned from this earthly life to eternal rest at his residence. He was born on July 4, 1937, in Martinsville, VA to the late Moses Hairston, Sr. and Lucile Alcorn Hairston Durant.
In addition to his parents, Joe was preceded in death by one brother, Moses โPeteโ Hairston, Jr., and three sisters, Mary Ruth Durant, Louise Durant, and Lucinda Durant.
Joe was a faithful member of Mt. Zion A.M.E. Church. He loved his church and was active in the Choir and served as an Usher.
Those left to cherish his memory include his caregiver, James T. Penn of Martinsville, VA, and a host of other relatives and friends.
A graveside service will be held on Thursday, October 9, 2025, at 11 a.m. at Carver Memorial Gardens, 869 Parkway Dr., Martinsville.
Family and friends may come by the Hairston Funeral Home to sign the register between the hours of 1 p.m. until 4:30 p.m.
