Obituary For Josie Jaunita Gilliam

Josie Juanita Hairston Gilliam, 66, of Morrow, GA, formally of Martinsville, VA departed from this life Tuesday, June 6, 2023, at her residence. She was born June 28, 1956, to the late Calvin Hairston and Garnett Jones Hairston. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Woodrow Gillian; two sisters, Frances Giles, and Vanessa Hairston; and two brothers, Earnest Hairston, and Clyde Hairston.

Josie was a graduate of Martinsville High School. She was a faithful member of Mt. Carmel Baptist Church in Atlanta, GA.

Those left behind to cherish her memory include two sisters, Carolyn Giles of Morrow, GA and Faye Galloway of Martinsville, VA; two brothers, Calvin Hairston, Jr. of Martinsville, VA, and William Hairston of Baltimore, MD; and a host of other relatives and friends.

A graveside service for Josie will be held Wednesday, June 14, 2023, at 12 noon at Carver Memorial Gardens, Martinsville VA with Bishop Chattie Giles, presiding. A public viewing will be held, Tuesday, June 15, 2023, at Hairston Funeral Home, from 1 p.m. until 5 p.m.
