On Thursday, October 27, 2022, Larry Hodge, 61, of Yorkshire Rd., Martinsville transitioned from this earthly life to eternal life. Born December 3, 1960, in Virginia, he was the son of the late Harry Clay Hodge, Sr., and the late Elizabeth Witcher Hodge.
In addition to his parents, Larry was preceded in death by one son, Larry O. Hairston; four sister, Kitty Custis, Geneva Stockton, Lillie Belcher, and Mary Hodge; and two brothers, Harry Hodge, Jr., and Erwin Hodge.
Larry was a member of First Baptist Church where he was a member of the Choir, former Chairman of the Trustee Board, Treasurer, Superintendent of the Sunday School, and Usher Board. Prior to his illness, Larry was employed by Proctor and Gamble as a Technician for 19 years. Larry was a United States Army Veteran. He was a graduate of Laurel Park High School class of 1979.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 37 years, Joan Hairston Hodge of the home; one son, Jeremy O. Hodge of Alexandria, VA; one sister, Rosa H. Wheeler of Reidsville, NC; two brothers, Jesse (Cynthia) Hodge of Martinsville, VA, and William D. Hodge of Independence, VA; two sisters-in-law, Frances Hodge, and Deborah Hairston both of Martinsville, VA; one special twin/ niece/sister, Shirley Stockton of Martinsville, VA; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
A visitation service will be held on Tuesday, November 1, 2022, at 10:30 A.M. until the time of the funeral service at 11 a.m. at First Baptist Church E. Martinsville with Pastor Charles Whitfield, Eulogist. Burial will follow at Carver Memorial Gardens. Viewing will be held on Monday, October 31, 2022, at Hairston Funeral Home between the hours of 1 p.m. until 5 p.m. In accordance with the CDC, a face covering, and social distancing is required. Other times, the family will be receiving friends at the home, 1147 Yorkshire Rd., Martinsville. The family ask that when visiting the home to please observe all COVID guidelines.

It seems we only found out you were sick and we were expecting just a little more time with you. I worked with Larry at P&G and he was a gentle soul. He will surely be missed. He has trained alot of people and his knowledge will live on in all of us.
