Leon Martin, Sr. 76, of Cherry Street, Martinsville, VA departed from this life on Thursday, June 26, 2025, at his residence. He was born August 10,1948, in Pittsylvania County, Virginia to the late Walter Martin and Myrtle Brown Richardson Martin.
In addition to his parents, Leon was preceded in death by his wife, Nellie Burnette Martin; four sisters, Shirley Brimmer, Ollie M. Carter, Linda Cook and Geraldine Tarpley; and five brothers, John H. Martin, Sherman Martin, Bennie Martin, Curtis Martin and Walter Martin, Jr.
Leon was a member of First Baptist Church E. Martinsville. He retired from Prillaman Chemical Company after many years of service. He was a graduate of Southside High School.
Leon leaves to cherish his memory two sons, Leon Martin, Jr. and Brian Walter Martin both of Martinsville, VA; one daughter, Laquienta Martin; one grandson, Aveon K. Turner of Lynchburg, VA; two sisters, Una S. Martin and Myrtle Price both of Martinsville, VA; one brother, Roger Martin of Martinsville, VA; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
A gathering for family and friends will be held on Wednesday, July 2, 2025, at 12 noon at the C.R.V. Memorial Chapel at Hairston Funeral Home, 301 Fayette St., Martinsville. Interment will be private.
A public viewing will be held on Tuesday, July 1, 2025, at Hairston Funeral Home between the hours of 1 p.m. until 5 p.m. Other times, the family will receive friends at the residence, 1101 Cherry St., Martinsville. Live streaming of the gathering will be available at Hairston Funeral Home live via Facebook.
