Leroy Martin, 66, of Axton, VA, departed this life on Friday, May 24, 2019 at the Salem VA Medical Center, Salem, VA. He was born in Axton, VA on April 24, 1954, the son of the late Jesse James Martin and the late Nanny Kate Martin.
Leroy was a member of Christ Temple United Holiness Church, Axton, VA, were he served as an usher and maintained the church lawn. He retired from National Textile, Eden, NC and was a U.S. Army Veteran.
In addition to his parents, Leroy was preceded in death by two sisters, Shirley Martin and Annie Kate Adams; and two brothers, Melvin Martin and Jesse Martin.
He is survived by his wife, Queen Martin of the home; one daughter, Brittney C. Martin Mays of the home; one son, Andre’ L. Martin of Charlotte, NC; six sisters, Willie Mae Eggleston, Virginia B. Gravely, and Helen Philpott-Giles all of Martinsville, VA, Dorothy Strange of Cascade, VA, Edith J. M. Stone and Naomi M. Tucker, both of Axton, VA; five brothers, Calvin Martin, Samuel Martin, Bernard Martin, and Marvin Martin all of Axton, VA, and Howard Martin of Richmond, VA; one grandson, Lamar V. (L.J.) Mays of Axton, VA.; two aunts, Pearl Martin Adams of Pittsburg, PA and Norma Martin of Axton, VA, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
A memorial services will be conducted on Friday, May 31, 2019 at 10 a.m., Christ Temple United Holiness Church, 2867 Martin Dr, Axton, VA with Elder Leonard Thompson officiating. Other times, the family will receive friends at the home 2752 Martin Dr., Axton, VA.
Arrangements are entrusted to Hairston Funeral Home, Martinsville, VA.
