Obituary For Lois "Ma Lois" Preston Spencer

With hearts filled with love and cherished memories, we celebrate the life and mourn the passing of Mrs. Lois โ€œMa Loisโ€ Spencer, who entered eternal rest on October 22, 2026, at the age of 76.

Lois was born on December 16, 1949, in Henry County, Virginia, to the late Floyd W. Preston and Virginia D. Preston. Her life was a precious gift, and although her earthly journey has ended, the love she shared and the memories she created will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.

Lois was a woman whose life became a part of the story of her family and community. Through the years, she formed bonds that time could never erase and created memories that will continue to bring comfort to those she leaves behind. Though words cannot fully express the sadness of her passing, we find peace in knowing that God is faithful, His promises are true, and His love reaches us even in our darkest hours.

Her earthly journey was not without its challenges, but every season of life reminds us that God's grace is sufficient and His mercy is everlasting. Today, we take comfort in the assurance that death is not the end, but a doorway into eternity for those who trust in the Lord. We can find strength in the words of Revelation 21:4, which reminds us that God will wipe away every tear, and there will be no more death, sorrow, crying, or pain.

Lois leaves precious memories to be cherished by her loving children, Tuwanda โ€œKatieโ€ Moore (Barry), Darell Spencer both of Martinsville, VA, and Mark Spencer of Bassett, VA; Goddaughter, Asia Spencer Parler of Ridgeway, VA; ten grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, her sister, Shelia Foster of Martinsville, VA; two brothers, Gordon Foster (Tina) and Keith Preston both of Martinsville, VA; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, dear friends, and all who were blessed to share in her life's journey.

She was preceded in death in addition to her parents by her beloved husband, John H. Spencer, and one son, John M. Spencer and other loved ones who have gone before her.

Each person who knew Lois carries a special memory of her, and those memories will remain treasured reminders of a life that touched others in ways that words can never fully describe.

A visitation service for Mrs. Lois Spencer will be held on Saturday, October 31, 2026, at 12:30 p.m. with the funeral service at 1:00 p.m. at Mayo Missionary Baptist Church, 3554 Horsepasture Price Rd., Ridgeway, VA with Pastor Dwight Mack, Eulogist. Interment will follow at the Preston Family Cemetery, 921 Chestnut Knob Rd., Ridgeway, VA.

The family will receive friends at Hairston Funeral Home on Friday, October 30, 2026, between the hours of 1 p.m. until 5 p.m. Other times, the family will receive friends at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Tuwanda and Barry Moore, 1155 Chestnut Knob Rd., Ridgeway, VA between the hours of 2 p.m. until 8 p.m. daily.

I always called her Mrs Lois. She had a BIG Heart โค๏ธ. Whenever I saw Mrs Lois she always called me baby. I would stop by her house in the mornings , while she was waiting on her Granddaughter to get on the bus. She will be missed by everyone who knew her. She loved her children. Praying ๐Ÿ™ for the family.
