On Saturday, December 21, 2024, Lorine E. Jones 82, of Morgan St., Martinsville transitioned peacefully at SOVAH Health-Martinsville. She was born February 2, 1942, to the late John L. Eggleston and Ella Mae Witcher Eggleston.
In addition to her parents Lorine was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Howard Russell Jones, Sr; her twin sister Dorine Jones; her sister Julia Mae Eggleston; and one brother, William L. Eggleston.
Lorine was a graduate of Albert Harris High School. She went on to work at E.I. Dupont for many years until her retirement. Lorine was a devoted and enthusiastic member of Shiloh Way of the Cross Church of Christ of the Apostolic Doctrine where she served as a past member of the Usher Board and the Women’s fellowship.
Those left behind to cherish her memory include, one son, Howard R. (Tara) Jones of Martinsville, VA; one daughter, Jennifer (Clifton) Scott of Martinsville, VA; one sister, Belinda Scales (Howard); one brother, Henry Clay Eggleston (Gwen); four grandchildren, Malika Jones of Charlotte, NC, Clifton M. Scott, Jr. (Brittany), and April Jones-Garrett (Amondo) both of Martinsville, VA, and Jentae Scott-Mayo (Keylon) of Glen Allen, VA; eight great grandchildren whom she cherished dearly; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
A family visitation will be held Friday, December 27, 2024 at 11:30 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 12 noon at Shiloh Way of The Cross Church of Christ of Apostolic Doctrine, 938 Brookdale Street, Martinsville, VA. Interment will follow at Carver Memorial Gardens, 869 Parkway Dr., Martinsville, VA.
A public viewing will be held on Thursday, December 26, 2024, at Hairston Funeral Home between the hours of 1 p.m. and 5 p.m. Other times, the family will receive friends at the home 926 Morgan St., Martinsville, VA. Live streaming of the funeral service will be available at Hairston Funeral Home live via Facebook.
