I became acquainted with Mrs. Hairston when her husband and my husband shared a room together at Stanleytown Health Care many years ago. They were two of the most kind people I have ever encountered.
Lucy was my teacher's aide at Magna Vista. After I retired she became my daughters aide and we both loved her and kept in touch with her thru the years even after she moved to Winston Salem. She was the best. I will miss her and my thoughts and prayers go out to Karen. Your mom was so proud of you. Elaine K. (Hobson) Gregory
I had the fortune of working with Lucy for several years. She was kind, humble, and had a wonderful sense of humor. My condolences to her family.
I absolutely adored Mrs. Hairston, she taught me how to sew and she was so kind. I would always see her out at the grocery store and Belk. I always made sure to acknowledge her presence. Mrs. Hairston truly made an impact on my life and on how I should treat others and raise my children with a gentle heart. To her family please know how deeply sorry I am for her passing. Mrs.Hairston will always be remembered in my heart. A. Maddox
