On the morning of Tuesday, August 19, 2025, Mother Mae Frances Martin 98, of Fellowship Dr., Martinsville peacefully transitioned from this earthly life at SOVAH Health-Martinsville. She was born in Bluefield, WV on June 5, 1927, the daughter of the late Foster William Perkins and Mamie Joe Martin Perkins. In addition to her parents, Mae Frances was preceded in death by her husband, Alfred Martin, Jr. and one daughter Andrea Martin.
Mae Frances was a member of the Only Way Church of Christ, Eden, NC.
Mae Frances was a devoted mother and grandmother, who poured her heart into her family. She celebrated their accomplishments, shared stories that made her beam with pride, and found happiness in every hug, laugh, and moment together.
She leaves to cherish her beautiful memory: six daughters, Joyce A. Martin and Deloyce Salda both of Detroit, MI, Betty Dillard (Jessie) of Axton, VA, Dale Ellens (Kevin) of Livonia, MI, Kenette Edness (Derek) of Virginia Beach, VA and Ella Martin of Danville, VA; nine sons, Alfred O. Martin (Ann), Sanford Martin, Gordon Martin, Sr. and Felice Martin, Sr. all of Martinsville, VA, John F. Martin, Sr. and Glenn Martin both of Detroit, MI, Timothy Martin of Burlington, NC, Jerry Martin of Axton, VA and Jason Martin of Hamburg, Germany; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren a total of five generations; one sister, Chaney Tinsley of Eden, NC; and a host of other relatives, and friends.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, August 25, 2025, at 1 p.m. at the C.R.V. Memorial Chapel at Hairston Funeral Home, 301 Fayette St., Martinsville. Interment will follow at Roselawn Burial Park, 103 Clearview Dr., Martinsville.
A public viewing will be held on Sunday, August 24, 2025, at Hairston Funeral Home between the hours of 2 p.m. until 5 p.m. The family will be present during this time. Other times, the family will receive friends at the home of her son Jerry Martin, 2991 Hobson Rd., Martinsville, VA. Live streaming of the funeral service will be available at Hairston Funeral Home live via Facebook.
