Obituary For Marcie Gravely Hunt
Mrs. Marcie Gravely Hunt departed this life on Tuesday, May 12, 2026, at her residence in Martinsville, Virginia, at the age of 53. Born on February 8, 1973, in Martinsville, Virginia, Marcie was the beloved daughter of Robert Nelson Taylor and Linda Faye Gravely. She was a loving wife, devoted mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend whose kindness and vibrant spirit touched the lives of many.
Marcie was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, William H. and Laura L. Gravely; her aunts, Brenda Manns, and Donna Mae Courts; her uncles, William Gravely and Thomas Manns; her brothers, Byron Taylor and Ricky Taylor; and her father-in-law John G. Hunt.
Marcie was united in marriage to Steven Joseph Hunt, who cherished her deeply. She leaves to treasure her memory her loving children, Erica Gravely, and Ahmad Smith both of Martinsville, Virginia; her beloved grandchildren, Lorenzo Smith, Omarion Smith both of Martinsville, Virginia and Kyrzen Azjaniq Smith of Charlotte, NC; one brother, Barry (Lisa) Lowe of Martinsville, Virginia; one sister, Robin (Martin) Reid of Greensboro, North Carolina; one brother-in-law, John Hunt, Jr. of Martinsville, Virginia; her mother-in-law, Charlotte Hunt of Martinsville, Virginia; along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and many dear friends.
Marcie attended of St. Paul High Street Baptist Church. She was a proud Martinsville High School graduate, class of 1991 and later completed a Medical Assistant certification program. Marcie worked as a Medical Assistant and was known for her caring heart, compassion for others, and willingness to help anyone in need. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her, but her love, kindness, and beautiful legacy will continue to live on in the hearts of her family and friends for generations to come.
A visitation service will be held on Thursday, May 21, 2026, at 11:30 a.m. with the funeral service at 12 noon at Refuge Temple Ministries, 205 Clearview Drive, Martinsville, VA, with Interim Pastor Thomas Divens as the Eulogist and Bishop Alan Preston will be Presiding. Interment will follow at Carver Memorial Gardens, 869 Parkway Dr., Martinsville.
The family will receive friends at Hairston Funeral Home on Wednesday, May 20, 2026, from 1 p.m. until 5 p.m. At all other times the family will begin receiving friends at the home, 306 Hairston St., Martinsville, VA. Live streaming of the funeral service will be available at Hairston Funeral Home live via Facebook.

I don't even know where to begin. Marcie and I met some three years ago through the children ans we share our first granddaughter (the double Mimi's). Marcie and I shared many memories within the last three years all were wonderful ❤️. She was a breath of fresh air and funny as ever. I loved our friendship that ultimately turned into sisterhood. Later to find we shared the same birthday 2/8 babies... I can only pray God wraps his loving around around Steve, Mama Lynn, Erica and Ahmad at this time. My deepest condolences to the family. Marcie was a literal breath of fresh air. I met her when I was around 14. Her smile could light up a room. We immediately connected and stayed in contact. I spoke to her last month and told her she was heaven sent. I had no idea that would be my last heart to heart with her. On Mother's Day she texted me also and I returned the love. I have been sad for days. You were the sweetest woman I have ever met. From the looks of it everyone else thinks so too. I love you so so so much and I'm just devastated. I ask God to wrap his arms around your family thru these terrible times. Know that you will NEVER and I mean NEVER be forgotten. I know you made it to heaven with a heart of gold like yours. And I hope to see you again one day🫶🏾🕊️ Get Your Rest Queen❤️

I knew Marcie growing up within the family. She was always so sweet and kind. She minded her business, but would always greet you with a smile and she never met a stranger. She would always come up and talk to me and Tootie when she would see us. I will miss you Marcie. There are not a lot of people left in the world like you! Rest in God's arms. He loves you the best!
