Obituary For Margaret M. White

On Thursday, August 28, 2025, Sister Margaret Marie White 87, of Country Club Dr., Maybrook, NY transitioned peacefully at the Englewood Hospital, Englewood, NJ. She was born in Bethel, NC on September 19, 1937, the daughter of the late Nathaniel and Carrie Mary Callier Highsmith.

In addition to her parents, Margaret was preceded in death by one daughter, Felicia Joy Jackson; one sister, Sue Callier and a very special aunt.

Margaret was a graduate of Clara Barton High, Brooklyn, NY. She worked as a Court Stenographer for the Brooklyn Supreme Court, Brooklyn, NY. She was also an agent for the New York State Justice Center for the Protection of People with Special Needs. Margaret retired as a Supervisory Investigator for the State of New York.

Sister Margaret joined the Mt. Olive Primitive Baptist Church, Brooklyn, NY on the 4TH Sunday in September 1963. She was a faithful and dedicated member of that church for over 40 years. Sister Margaret also served as Mother of the Church for many years. She later moved her membership to the Rock Hill Primitive Baptist Church, Martinsville, VA where she attended until her health declined and she was not able to travel.

Sister Margaret was a very fashionable and sharp dresser. She was always color coordinated, and her hats, suits, dresses, gloves, shoes, purses and even her wrap was always matched so elegantly.

Before her sickness, Sister Margaret supported her church and association financially and in every way that she could. She attended her church services, benefit meetings, and associations. Margaret loved her church family, and she loved attending church, and singing and praising the Lord.

Sister Margaret leaves to cherish her memory her loving daughter, Sister Yvonne Juinita White of Dermont, NJ; and a host of cousins, other relatives, and friends.

A visitation service will be held on Friday, September 12, 2025, at 12:30 p.m. with the funeral service at 1 p.m. at the Rock Hill Primitive Baptist Church, 445 Stockton Rd., Martinsville, VA with elder Percy Stockton, Eulogist. Interment will follow at the Rock Hill Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery.
