Merrie DeShazo, 57, of D St., Martinsville, VA, departed this life on Tuesday, January 18, 2022, at her residence. Born in Martinsville, VA on December 25, 1964, the daughter of Moncie DeShazo, Jr. and Edna Mae Strawn DeShazo who preceded her in death.
Merrie was a member of Refuge Temple Ministries. She was a 1983 graduate of Martinsville High School. Merrie was employed by Monogram Snacks for a number of years. She loved the Dallas Cowboys and she loved to cook.
Those left to cherish her memory include: one daughter, Breonna DeShazo of Martinsville, VA; two brothers, Moncie DeShazo of Collinsville, VA, and Victor DeShazo of Virginia; four sisters, Debora DeShazo of Martinsville, VA, Yvonne Ellison of Reidsville, NC, Daryl DeShazo of Martinsville, VA, and Shawn DeShazo-Bunch of Eden, NC; special friend, Leslie Hairston of Axton, VA; best friend Cindra Fuller and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 28, 2022, at 12 noon at Refuge Temple Ministries with Elder Alan Preston, Eulogist. Burial will follow at Carver Memorial Gardens. Viewing will be held on Thursday, January 27, 2022, at Hairston Funeral Home between the hours of 1 p.m. until 5 p.m. In accordance with the CDC, a face covering, and social distancing is required.
