On Sunday, September 7, 2025, our beloved mother, grandmother and friend, Molois Philpott, 91, of Willow Ct., Martinsville peacefully transitioned from this earthly life at her residence. She was born in Martinsville, VA on December 31, 1933, the daughter of the late Guidy Hobert Perkins, Sr. and Gracie Waller Perkins.
In addition to her parents, Molois was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur βJuneβ Philpott; six sisters, Elenor Stockton, Lizzie Hairston, Gertrude Griggs, Mertha Hairston, Margaret Hairston and Gracie Devins, and two brothers, Guidy Hobert Perkins, Jr. and Benjamin Perkins.
Molois was a member of Rock Hill Primitive Baptist Church. She retired from Tultex after many years of dedicated service. She loved caring for her flowers and going to church. She also enjoyed gathering together for family events.
Molois leaves to cherish her memory one daughter, Vanessa C. Penn (Tony) of Martinsville, VA; two sons, Lawrence Philpott of Ridgeway, VA and Darell Philpott of Collinsville, VA; five grandchildren, Porsha Martin, Anthony Penn, Kia Penn, Brandi Penn, and Darell Jordan Philpott; four great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
A visitation service will be held on Thursday, September 11, 2025, at 11:30 a.m. with the funeral service at 12 noon at the C.R.V. Memorial Chapel at Hairston Funeral Home, 301 Fayette St., Martinsville with Elder Percy Stockton, Eulogist. Interment will follow at the Perkins Family Cemetery, Stockton Rd., Martinsville.
A public viewing will be held on Wednesday, September 10, 2025, at Hairston Funeral Home between the hours of 1 p.m. until 5 p.m. Live streaming of the funeral service will be available at Hairston Funeral Home live via Facebook.
